January 31st is #BellLetsTalk Day. The Uberflip team is very honoured to be involved this year and is going to be sure to keep these conversations going all year long.
In case you're not familiar with Bell Let's Talk, here is a brief overview:
Bell Let's Talk is a multi-year charitable program dedicated to the promotion and support of mental health across Canada. Since 2010, Bell has committed to donate at least $100 million to support a wide range of mental health organizations, large and small, from coast to coast focusing on anti-stigma, care and access, workplace mental health and research.
To help you be part of the conversation, the Bell Let's Talk Toolkit provides information and resources on how you can facilitate a conversation in your community, as well as guidelines on how to have conversations with people you care about and may be concerned about.
Bell Let's Talk provides people with an incredible Toolkit to help understand and deal with Mental Health in the workplace and in everyday life. I definitely recommend taking some time to download and read through it all. Really looking forward to implementing some of these initiatives and really get the conversation going.
What is Uberflip doing today to support #BellLetsTalk ?! We're encouraging our staff to post on social using the hashtag #UberflipLetsTalk and we're donating up to $5.00 per employee to mental health initiatives, hoping to raise up to $500 as part of our Give Back initiative.
I will end this post with something so small and simple that everyone can start doing TODAY, that listed was in the Bell Let's Talk toolkit:
Five (very) simple ways to show your support:
1) Language matters - pay attention to the words you use about mental illness
2) Educate yourself - learn, know and talk more. Understand the signs.
3) Be kind - small acts of kindness go a long way
4) Listen and ask - sometimes it's best to just listen
5) Talk about it - start a dialogue, break the silence
